Chelsea are currently in pole position to secure the services of Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
Lukaku has been in sensational form for Everton this season and the prolific striker managed his 20th and 21st Premier League goals of the current campaign during the Toffees’ 4-0 victory over Hull City on Saturday.
While Lukaku’s wonderful goals will surely be appreciated by the Everton fans, there is a bittersweet feeling as the striker seems to have suggested that he is set to leave Goodison Park at the end of the season.
Due to Lukaku’s hesitance to sign a new deal with Everton, a number of clubs are ramping up their pursuit to recruit the Belgian international next summer and his former side Chelsea have been mentioned as one of the teams very keen on landing the Toffees’ record Premier League goalscorer.
Now in an update, the Daily Mail have gone on to claim that Chelsea are leading the likes of Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in the race to secure the services of Lukaku.
Lukaku left Chelsea for Everton back in 2013 for a deal of around £28 million and it is clear to see that the young attacker has developed into one of the best front men in Europe over the past few seasons.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is believed to be a keen admirer of Lukaku’s abilities and the Blues are expected to be ready to splash as much as £75 million to bring back their former player to Stamford Bridge for next year.
