According to reports from La Capitale, Anderlecht defender Kara Mbodji is keen on a move to Premier League side Everton
Everton currently face the real prospect of potentially losing the services of star defender John Stones to Manchester City this summer and a fee of around £50 million has been mooted for the England international.
If indeed Everton do go on to lose the services of Stones, they will most certainly have to bring in a replacement and Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly had widely been mentioned as a target for the Toffees in recent weeks.
Stones set for Everton exit
However, Koulibaly is believed to be rated at a whopping £38 million by Napoli and with Chelsea also interested in signing the 25-year-old, Everton have wisely looked at other targets as well.
Recently, reports emerging out of Belgium claimed that Everton boss Ronald Koeman had identified Anderlecht defender Kara Mbodji as a potential candidate to replace Stones.
Mbodji enjoyed a fine campaign in Anderlecht last season, making 43 appearances in all competitions and his contribution proved to be crucial in helping the club earn a 2nd placed finish in the Belgian Pro League last term.
Koulibaly also a target for Everton
Mbodji’s performances seem to have caught the attention of Everton and the Daily Mail had reported that the defender would be available to the Toffees for around only £6.2 million, if they place a bid before August 5th.
Now as a further boost to Everton’s chances of signing Mbodji, revelations from La Capitale can be made that the 26-year-old defender also is keen on a move to Goodison Park.
New Everton Director of Football Steve Walsh is said to be a huge admirer of Mbodji and the transfer coming into fruition this summer looks very likely at the moment.
