According to reports from Italian outlet Tuttosport, Everton are plotting a move to sign Sampdoria attacker Patrik Schick.
Patrik Schick is one of the most talented young strikers in Europe at the moment and the 21-year-old really managed to show his class by scoring 13 goals for Sampdoria last season, despite largely featuring as a substitute on many occasions.
Due to such fine exploits, it was no surprise whatsoever to see Schick attracting the interest from a host of top clubs this summer and Italian champions Juventus seemed to have won the race to sign the youngster after agreeing to a fee of around £26million with Sampdoria.
Despite the fee being agreed last month, the transfer has not gone through as of yet and there have been reports that the move could well collapse due to the fact that Schick has been unable to pass a medical with the Old Lady.
Sampdoria chief Massimo Ferrero recently slammed the hold up to the transfer saying, “Schick? It’s a farce. He’s not healthy, he’s really healthy. What they found is equivalent to a cold! If Juventus want to back out, we’ll sell him to one of the other four clubs that are ready to buy him.
“I think he’ll eventually go to Juventus, otherwise we’ll take him back and add a nice ‘maybe’, given his release clause has now expired and we can sell him for not just €30m but possibly €40-50m. Juventus on loan? Sampdoria won’t go back a millimetre on any agreements.
“The lad is healthy, he can play, yet now we have to worry about who’s put out rumours that could damage the image of one of the brightest talents in European football. Enough talk about nothing: the sick are sick, the healthy are healthy and Schick is very healthy, so the problem doesn’t exist.”
Premier League side Everton are said to have been following the developments surrounding Schick very closely and Tuttosport state that if the Czech Republic international does not join Juventus by today, the Toffees will be making their move.
Everton boss Ronald Koeman is currently in the market to sign a new striker following the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United and the Dutchman could now well decide to make a swoop for Schick as his asking price is already known.
