Everton rejected an approach for midfielder Tom Cleverley from Hull City, according to reports emerging out of England
Everton made a surprise move for Idrissa Gueye from Aston Villa this summer and it has to be said that the Senegalese international has looked very impressive at Goodison Park so far.
The Toffees’ faithful have been excited by what they have seen of Gueye but the arrival of the midfielder could prove to be bad news for Tom Cleverley.
Cleverley has been reduced to only five minutes of action in the Premier League so far this season and with the likes of Gueye, James McCarthy and Gareth Barry all ahead of him in the pecking order; it looks like the 27-year-old will struggle for regular first team football this season.
As a result, it was believed that Cleverley could potentially leave Everton on deadline day and a host of Premier League clubs were reportedly interested in signing the Englishman.
Now according to reports emerging out of England, claims have been made that Hull City had made an approach for Cleverley and Tigers’ boss Mike Phelan was believed to be confident of getting the deal done for the midfielder due to their Manchester United association in the past.
However, the transfer evidently did not come into fruition as Everton rejected the bid from the Premier League new boys.
Koeman still feels that Cleverley can prove to be an important player for Everton despite not handing him too much minutes on the pitch so far and as a result, the ex-Aston Villa man has stayed put at Goodison Park.
