Everton have made a very good impact in the transfer market so far and the Toffees certainly look in good shape heading into the new Premier League campaign.
Having recruited the services of Romelu Lukaku, Muhamed Besic, Gareth Barry as well as promising youngster Brendan Galloway so far, manager Roberto Martinez has certainly done a good job in reinforcing his squad with the limited resources at his disposal.
Now, it is believed that Martinez is on the verge of completing another astute signing in the form of Christian Atsu on a season long deal from Chelsea.
While the deal is yet to be confirmed, it is believed that the transfer is surely set to come into fruition in the coming days and here is a look at whether the signing of the talented winger will prove to be a hit or a miss for Everton.
Probability of Making an impact – 3.5/5
Martinez had publicly stated that he was looking to sign a new winger before the start of the season and the arrival of Atsu could prove to be the final puzzle in the jigsaw for Everton heading into the new Premier League campaign.
An extremely talented young player, Atsu was very impressive last season during his loan spell with Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse and continued his great run of form into the 2014 FIFA World Cup with Ghana as well.
Quick, tricky and capable of delivering the final product consistently, Atsu certainly has the talent to become a star in the future and given his skills set – the young man could be a good fit at Goodison Park. Martinez likes his team to make use of the wings at every opportunity and the young man can certainly flourish under the style adopted by the Spanish manager at Everton.
With established names such as Steven Pienaar, Kevin Mirallas and Aiden McGeady also present at the club, Atsu may well have to be patient initially to earn his place in the starting lineup but there is a great possibility of the Ghanaian star fulfilling the role similar to the one that Gerard Deulofeu did for the Toffees last season.
Value for Money – 4/5
Roberto Martinez has proven himself to be a master of working the loan market over the last few seasons and his acquisition of Atsu seems to be a stroke of genius by the Spaniard.
The winger is certainly surplus to requirements at Chelsea but could prove to be a vital addition to the ranks at Goodison Park, especially with the added rigours of European football.
Overall Verdict – 4/5
There is no doubting that Astu is a very talented young player and his signing will certainly be welcomed by the Everton fans.
The winger will probably not be thrust straight into the limelight but once he adapts to life at Goodison Park, the young player could prove to be a very important player for Everton in the Premier League as well as in Europe.
