Everton have joined in the race to sign Xherdan Shaqiri following his failed move to Stoke City
There is no doubting that Xherdan Shaqiri is a quality player but the winger has endured a tough period over the last few seasons or so.
Having struggled for regular first team football at Bayern Munich, Shaqiri decided to make a move to Inter Milan in January this year and it was believed that the transfer would go a long way in reigniting the winger’s career.
As it turned out though, Shaqiri endured a very difficult spell at Inter and the Italian giants are now actively seeking to sell the 24-year old this summer.
A host of clubs are interested in signing Shaqiri and it looked like Stoke City would be able to win the services of the winger after it was revealed that they managed to agree on a fee of around £11million with Inter over the transfer.
Shaqiri being targeted by Everton
However Stoke have now backed out of the deal after Shaqiri did not make a swift decision and the services of the Swiss international is still up for grabs.
A return back to Germany with Schalke has been seen on the cards for Shaqiri but it can now be revealed that even Everton have joined in the race to sign the winger.
Everton boss Roberto Martinez is planning for life after Kevin Mirallas and while he has already managed to secure the services of Gerard Deulofeu from Barcelona, the Spaniard is said to be looking to sign Shaqiri as well.
Everton will have no problems in splashing the £11million asking price for Shaqiri but it remains to be seen whether he will be open to joining the Toffees after recently having rejected the advances of Stoke.
