Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye is close to signing a new five-year-deal with Everton which will keep the Senegalese international at Goodison Park until 2022.
Gueye joined Everton from Aston Villa in the summer of 2016 and made an instant impact at Goodison Park with impressive performances at the middle of the park which were crucial in helping the club to a seventh place finish last season.
However, the Senegalese international has failed to recapture the form of last term during the current campaign and the Toffees are currently languishing in the relegation zone as their key players such as Gueye have not performed to their best.
Despite the poor recent form though, the Everton management seem to have put faith on the 28-year-old for long term success at Goodison Park and hence have offered a new five-year-deal to the midfielder.
It is expected that Gueye will sign the new deal in the next 48 hours and this news will definitely be a welcome one for the Everton supporters who are desperate for positive news in a disappointing week which saw the sacking of manager Ronald Koeman.
