According to reports from the Daily Mirror, Everton are close to securing the services of Davy Klaassen from Ajax Amsterdam.
Everton enjoyed a very productive campaign under the tutelage of Ronald Koeman last season and with a few more additions over the summer, there is no reason as to why the Toffees will not be able to challenge for a place in the top four next season.
That said though, one should not ignore the gulf in class between Everton and the teams above them in the table and with the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley expected to be leaving Goodison Park this summer, Koeman will surely have to improve his squad wisely.
Lukaku and Barkley’s impending departures means that Everton will surely have to improve their attacking lineup and according to reports from the Daily Mirror, revelations can be made that the Toffees are currently on the verge of completing a major coup by securing the services of Davy Klaassen.
Klaassen has been one of the best attacking players in the Dutch Eredivisie over the past few years and the 24-year-old enjoyed a wonderful campaign last term, scoring 20 goals as well as providing 17 assists in 50 appearances in all competitions – playing a key role in the Ajax fine run to the final of the Europa League.
Now Klaassen is widely expected to make a move to greener pastures this summer and it can be reported that the Netherlands international is set to sign for Everton.
Everton are expected to splash as much as £20million in order to acquire the services of Klaassen but despite the huge investment, the attacking midfielder is likely to be a very good addition to the squad at Goodison Park next season.
