Everton place €7million bid for Mauricio Lemos

Goodison Park

Premier League side Everton have reportedly placed a €7million bid for Las Palmas defender Mauricio Lemos, according to reports from talkSPORT

Following the sacking of Roberto Martinez as manager; there has been a lot of speculation regarding who will take over the reins at Goodison Park during the summer.

With so many names being mentioned, it only remains to be seen as to which manager will eventually be handed the job but the vacant managerial position seemingly has not stopped the Toffees from commencing their summer transfer activity.

According to reports from talkSPORT, it has been claimed that Everton have placed a €7million bid for Las Palmas defender Mauricio Lemos.

Lemos joined Las Palmas from Russian side Rubin Kazan during the January transfer window but after only nine league appearances, the 20-year-old has started attracting the interest from a number of top clubs across Europe.

Giants Barcelona were said to have placed a £3million bid for Lemos recently but the offer was immediately rebuffed by Las Palmas.

Now if reports emerging from England are to be believed, even Everton have gone on to make an offer for the young defender in the region of around €7million.

Lemos is a very talented defender who has managed to make his mark for the Uruguay Under-23 national team and Everton are said to have identified the former Defensor Sporting man as the ideal replacement for John Stones, who looks set to be departing this summer.

Going back to our next manager coming in at Everton, well there has been lots of talk as you can imagine but there seems to be one outstanding candiate which is Frank de Boer. Even more so when he left his post as the Ajax manager within 24 hours of Martinez’s departure from Goodison Park. Below though are some of the latest odds for some of the next candidates. Remember, Ranieri was not high up the list on replacing Nigel Pearson last summer at Leicester and we all know what happened there now don’t we?
