Everton are hoping to make a swoop for Arsenal outcast Lukas Podolski
There is no doubting that Lukas Podolski is one of the most accomplished players in modern football and his record of 125 caps and 48 goals for the German national team serves to provide a testament to this fact.
However, Podolski has not been able to translate his wonderful international form at club level and is now considered surplus to requirements at his current club Arsenal.
Having spent an unsuccessful loan spell at Inter Milan during the second half of last season, Podolski is neither wanted by the Italian side nor Arsenal and it is very likely that the 30-year old will be making a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Podolski being eyed up by Everton
A move back to the German Bundesliga has been widely touted for Podolski but if reports are to believed, it has been claimed that Everton are prepared to give the German international another chance to revive his career in the Premier League.
With only one year remaining on Podolski’s current deal at the Emirates, Arsenal are open to selling the striker this summer and a fee of around £6-8million from Everton could be enough to see the Gunners accepting a deal.
However, a stumbling block to the potential move will be Podolski’s huge wage demands and it is believed that the striker will have to take a massive pay cut in order to join Everton.
Another obstacle to the move is the fact that Galatasaray are also said to be interested in the services of Podolski and with the Turkish giants possessing large financial power as well as the attraction of Champions League football next season, there is a possibility that Podolski might be tempted to join the Türk Telekom Arena based outfit instead.
