Everton are considering making a move for Inter Milan defender Yuto Nagatomo, according to reports from Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport.
While Everton did not challenge for a top four finish in the Premier League this season, they most certainly have enjoyed a lot of improvement under manager Ronald Koeman and many expect the Toffees to mount a stronger attempt for a Champions League spot next season.
In order to be able to do so though, Everton will surely have to strengthen their squad during the upcoming summer transfer window and a host of names have already started being linked with a move to Goodison Park in recent times.
Strengthening the backline will be one of Koeman’s main priorities and now according to reports from Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport, it has been claimed that Everton are currently plotting a move to sign Inter Milan full-back Yuto Nagatomo.
Nagatomo is a very experienced campaigner who has made close to 200 appearances for Inter since joining the Italian giants back in 2010 but it is expected that the Nerazurri will be looking to part with the 32-year-old this summer as they look to go through a squad revamp.
A number of clubs across Europe are believed to be keen on signing Nagatomo and revelations can be made that Everton are very keen on securing the services of the 93-time capped Japanese international.
Everton do need to reinforce their left full-back position as Leighton Baines is entering the twilight of his career and a move for the experienced Nagatomo would make sense as the two players will be able to alternate in the position.
