New Everton signing David Henen has expressed his desire to break into the Toffees’ first team this season
Following his successful loan spell last season, Everton decided to secure the services of David Henen on a permanent deal from Greek side Olympiakos for a fee of around £200,000 over the summer.
Everton quickly moving on to make the deal for Henen permanent proves that the club have high hopes for the young man and manager Roberto Martinez will be monitoring the striker very closely, with a view to using him in the first team during the foreseeable future.
Henen looking to prove his worth this season
Currently playing for the second team, Henen has started off his season in fine fashion with a goal and an assist against Tottenham Hotspur’s under-21 side and following his exploits, the striker has gone on to state his ambition for this season.
Henen stated that he enjoyed a fruitful first year at Goodison Park but he is keen on delivering more during the current campaign and is hopeful of breaking into the first team soon.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Henen said, “I’ve played two games now since coming back from injury and that’s good for my confidence. I was very happy to get a goal and an assist against Tottenham and I just want to play more games now.
“I want my second season to be better. I think my first season was good but in my second season I want to show more of what I can do.”
At 19, Henen has already shown a lot of potential and he is currently at an age where manager Martinez could well consider him for first team duties if he manages to continue his fine run of form for the Under-21 side.
