The agent of Kalidou Koulibaly has stated that the defender is not looking to join Premier League side Everton during the January transfer window
Everton have enjoyed a decent start to their season and following the 1-1 draw away to West Ham United, the Toffees are currently occupying a respectable 9th place in the table.
On current form, Everton certainly look like one of the strong contenders to be able to earn a European finish but the competition in the Premier League is fierce as ever at the moment and the Toffees will in all likelihood have to strengthen their ranks in order to be able to maintain the challenge for Europe.
Manager Roberto Martinez has hinted that he will look to sign a new striker so as to provide support for star man Romelu Lukaku but strengthening the backline will also be a priority for the Spaniard, especially with Phil Jagielka injured and John Stones likely to be pursued by Chelsea once again.
Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has often been mentioned as a target for Everton but the 24-year old decided to stay put at the Stadio San Paolo over the summer.
Despite missing out on Koulibaly, Martinez has maintained an interest in signing the defender and it was expected that the Everton boss would be reigniting his attempt to land the Senegalese international.
However as a huge blow to Everton, Koulibaly’s agent, Satin, has gone on to reveal that the defender is not interested in a move to Goodison Park before adding that he is perfectly happy at Napoli at the moment.
Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb, Bruno Satin said, “Koulibaly to Everton? No, he won’t be moving from Napoli [in January], he has an important role to play here.
“His contract is long, but after the season if proposals arrive we will sit down with Napoli and talk. I don’t know if the club will want him for the long-term, but they are very happy with him now.
“I don’t know if Napoli want to stick with Koulibaly for a long time but I met with [sporting director Cristiano] Giuntoli over the summer and he was very happy with my client.
“We want to let the boy concentrate as he is doing well. Offers will come in for him because he is a good young player who plays in one of the most important positions.”
