Everton 2 vs Southampton 1. After the battling draw away at Wolves last weekend, the Everton lads have shown us what we can expect from them this season under our new gaffer Marco Silva. Even with playing with ten men for the whole of the second-half there was periods in the game that we controlled and dominated.
Ahead of this game then I was so confident of a win against a Southampton, even more so after they scraped that point against us at the end of last season. Anyway, even though was last season it still annoys me, but I know I need to forget about it.

I soon has as well with the way we started at Goodison on Saturday, we impressed from the off going forward with Richarlison already looking like a top purchase. The Brazilian youngster knows how to get stuck in and one day I’m sure he’ll see red for us, but in the meantime I’m just happy to see the flair and ability in his game. He gets our fans of the edge of their seats whether he’s putting in a tackle and creating a moment of skill. It’s just great to watch. Man-of-the-Match: Richarlison
Opinion from the terraces:
Excellent performance all round and I was even more impressed with the way we played once Southampton got themselves back into the game. I put that to another supporter after the game and their response:
“Thought we played some lovely stuff yesterday. Attacking players in particular. Quite refreshing after last season. Have to say Southampton were poor, but still positive signs. Sigurdsson was great 2nd half & he could be a big player for us this season. Long way to go & we’ll play a lot better teams than we have done, but you sense there’s quite a few levels for us to go up too. Promising.”
It may be early days but the performance of Richarlison has won me over and I decided to buy him on Football Index. If you haven’t played the game before, you choose players to buy whose value you think will increase over the season due to their good performances. You can then sell them at a profit when they have been playing well. It’s pretty cool and there is a promo code available here that gives you risk free play for the first month. I reckon a few of our new signings will be worth watching on the game.
Other notable performances came from Theo Walcott and Gylfi Sigurðsson, both of whom seem to be always looking to create something and if Gylfi can finally find his old Swansea form then we’re in for a treat. Walcott will continue to pick up goals here and there which is great, more importantly though, he needs to be creating for others too. Pickford is still learning, so I’ve got plenty of time for him and when he produces outstanding saves like he did then you know he’s only going to get better and better. Anyway, here are our results and fixtures for the next month or so…
