Romelu Lukaku has dropped a huge hint that he will be leaving Everton over the summer
It was well documented that Everton endured a terrible campaign and the club ultimately had to take the difficult decision of dispensing with the services of manager Roberto Martinez.
Perhaps as a silver lining though, fans could be pleased with the performances of striker Romelu Lukaku after he managed an impressive 25 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions.
Lukaku did lose his steam during the final few matches of the season though and failed to find the back of the net for two months as the campaign was winding down.
Fans were a bit worried with Lukaku’s sudden drop in performance levels as an indication pointing to a lack of commitment from the striker towards Everton’s cause and now the Toffees’ faithful have a genuine cause to for concern.
Lukaku has been speaking to Het Nieuwsblad after returning to his native Belgium and the 23-year-old has gone on to drop a huge hint that he will be leaving Goodison Park during the upcoming summer.
The striker stated that there are a number of clubs chasing his signature at the moment and that he has already made a decision regarding his future.
He said, “There are plenty of clubs are interested. In my head, I have already made a decision. We’ll see. It’s true that the English competition suits me perfectly, but there are plenty of other beautiful clubs.
“In all competitions, I scored 25 times. The last few weeks at Everton were quite difficult. As a striker, I also depend on the supply of my teammates, but I continue to work hard. A transfer has no influence on my European Championships, though. I’m mentally quite ready to start these Euros.”
