Everton boss Ronald Koeman has revealed that he had to lose his cool with the players at half-time in order to spark the Toffees’ improvement against Swansea City.
Everton were unable to bounce back from their 5-0 thumping against Chelsea with a victory but they would perhaps have been satisfied with a point against Swansea City, especially considering the nature of the clash.
The Toffees had put up a very disappointing display during the first half and had headed into the interval with a one goal deficit through a Gylfi Sigurdsson penalty kick early on into the clash.
Everton did perform extremely well following the break though and having put Swansea under a lot of pressure, the Merseyside outfit were able to get their just rewards as Seamus Coleman grabbed the equalizer with a looping header.
During his post match interview, Ronald Koeman admitted that he had to give his players the a rollicking in the dressing room during half-time in order to get them playing much better in the second period.
Koeman told the Daily Mail, “I was not calm at half-time. We spoke before the game about what happened to us at Chelsea and that we needed to press, play aggressively and make things difficult for Swansea.
“But that didn’t happen so I was angry. We saw the reaction in the second half, but not in the first half. Maybe it’s better for me to be angry before the game!”
