Pundit Stan Collymore has gone on to urge Everton manager Ronald Koeman to reduce the average age of the Toffees’ squad by signing younger players.
Everton most certainly enjoyed a wonderful start to their campaign but things have taken a turn for the worse dramatically over the past few weeks.
The Toffees have claimed only one victory in their last ten matches in all competitions and it is clear to see that manager Ronald Koeman will have to strengthen his squad during the upcoming January transfer window in order for the Merseyside outfit to stand a chance of finishing in the top four this season.
A host of players have already been linked with a move to Everton over the past few weeks and now pundit Stan Collymore has gone on to provide some handy transfer advice to Toffees’ boss Ronald Koeman.
Collymore explained that Everton’s ageing squad could soon prove to be a problem and has urged Koeman to reduce the average age of his team over the next two transfer windows.
He said, “Koeman – and his brother and right-hand man Erwin – need to rectify that. They need to identify and prioritise key areas of the side and act sooner rather than later.
“In the next two transfer windows, Koeman has to lower the squad’s age significantly, while trying to keep the Merseysiders competitive in the top flight.”
The likes of Gareth Barry, Leighton Baines, Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka remain key players for Everton despite their advancing years but Collymore’s advice of bringing in young blood to reinvigorate the squad is certainly a good one.
