Reports coming out today that Romelu Lukaku could be a target for Spurs in the summer. Of course all this is just your standard guff from his agent and the ulterior motive is probably to get Mourinho to commit to whether he wants him or not. However, I can’t help feeling a tinge of regret that he’s being linked with other clubs when I’m sure all fellow blues would dearly love to keep him.

There is no doubt that Lukaku has made a real difference for us this season, his pace and strength are huge assets in this league and he is a perfect focal point in attack. Scores goals too.

We know the financial constraints in place at Everton and we know how much Chelsea paid for him. His value can only have gone up since then so it’s highly unlikely we’ll be able to afford him. Still, after such a good season it would hurt to see him wearing Spurs colours next season. Although I guess that’s what West Brom fans are feeling this time round.

I know it won’t happen but would love it if just for once we would dig deep into the club coffers and find the money to keep Lukaku. Who knows we could be able to offer him Champions League football next season and that’s more than he’ll get at Spurs.
